About the Program

The Presidential Youth Fitness Program (PYFP), managed by the National Fitness Foundation, is the national model for fitness education and assessment in schools. The program was established in 2012 in order to promote health-related fitness and provide physical education programs with quality resources and tools to empower youth to be fit for life. The program provides schools with access to best practices, including:

 

  • Training for physical educators

  • The national youth fitness assessment standards

  • Student & school recognition items

  • Grants for equipment, professional development, recognition & more

 

The National Fitness Foundation administers the program's key initiatives, including grant opportunities and teacher training's, in order to prepare children for a lifetime of health and fitness. The Foundation collaborates with the program's founding partners, including the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, Interactive Health Technologies, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and SHAPE America to support and advance fitness education and assessment practices.
